Alabama Gives Day 2012
Dear AWW Monitors, Members, and Friends:
On February 2nd, 2012, thousands of area residents are going to show
their support for their favorite nonprofit during Alabama Gives Day.
Alabama Water Watch is participating with the fund-raising push titled
“20 Years and Just Getting Started”. With the help of people like
you, we are working for to make this a reality!
Unfortunately, due to funding cuts this past year, the challenges
facing this program are quite serious. With this event we want people to
consider, “What would Alabama look like if there hadn’t been over
6,000 citizen volunteers monitoring water quality on 800 water bodies
and what will the next 20 look like if there is no funding to support
their efforts?” As state agencies are being cut, there will only be
less vigilance of the health of our water resources. This is the time
that Alabama needs qualified citizen volunteers more than ever!
Please help us promote AWW during the Alabama Gives Day Event by doing
these three things:
1) Mark February 2nd, 2012 on your calendar and bookmark this
giving link Getting Started
2) Follow us on Facebook. AWW Our page is going strong, but we really need more “likes”!
3) Spread the word! Forward this email to your family and friends
along with a personal note as to why you believe in our work, and why
they should give on February 2nd, 2012.
Sincerely,
Mike Kensler, AWWA President
