The AWW-Mobile Bay National Estuary Program (MBNEP) Community-Based Watershed Stewardship will give citizens an opportunity to contribute to protection and restoration of water quality in the Mobile Bay Basin through water monitoring.
Through this project at least six separate workshops will be facilitated in various locations in the Mobile Bay Basin. About half of workshops will teach citizens to do water chemistry monitoring, and the other half will focus on bacteriological monitoring. All who complete the workshops will be certified monitors through the AWW Program. Click here to learn more about chemistry and bacteria monitoring.
This project will also make it possible for AWW to provide support to volunteer monitors through technical backstopping, developing monitoring plans, receiving and processing data, and maintenance of the AWW database and Water Data web tools.
